The Last Victim by Karen Robards

Dr. Charlotte "Charlie" Stone studies serial killers. When she was seventeen she witnessed her friend's family being murdered by a serial killer named the Boardwalk Killer. And she can see dead people.

Now working at the local prison, Charlie is working with serial killer Michael Garland. After a session Charlie is approached by the FBI. They need her help on a case. A case that might be about the Boardwalk Killer. Before Charlie can give a decision, Garland is killed. Next thing Charlie knows, Garland's ghost decides to stay with Charlie.

Charlie agrees to help the FBI. They are pretty sure it is a copycat since it has been 15 years since the last killing. But Charlie isn't so sure. And on top of that  she is trying to get rid of Garland but he won't go. It doesn't help that he is super good looking and might not be the killer everyone thought.

I really liked this book. It is a departure from Robards usual romantic suspense but just as good. The second book in the series is The Last Kiss Goodbye.
