River Road by Jayne Ann Krentz

It has been forever since Jayne Ann Krentz has written a straight romantic suspense novel without paranormal. And it was worth the wait!

Lucy Sheridan hasn't been back to Summer River for thirteen years. She is back because her Aunt Sara has died and left everthing to Lucy. The first person she runs into is Mason Fletcher. When she was sixteen, he was nineteen and she had a huge crush on him. The last night she ever visited Summer River, Mason had rescued her from a party that would have ended badly for Lucy.

Lucy wants to fix up Sara's house before she sells it. Her first project is to rehab the fireplace. Mason offers to help and as he starts they make a startling discovery: a dead body. They discover the body belongs to Tristan Brinker. He went missing a couple of days after the party Lucy had attended thirteen years ago.

Lucy is determined to find out why Sara would have killed him. And as she looks for answers, other malicious events start happening to her and Mason. She also begins to wondered if Sara's car accident was an accident after all. As they get closer to the truth, Lucy and Mason find out not everyone is who they seem.
