Blue Streak by Jules Bernard

Nessa and Zach have been friends for over a year, ever since Nessa started working at Blue Casino in Lake Tahoe. Waitressing isn’t her dream job, but she hopes that it will lead to an internship in Blue’s executive offices. She has been in love with Zach this past year, but he never commits to any girl, and teases her as he would a little brother, even though her feelings for him are anything but brotherly.

When all their friends flake on the night of their weekly dinner get together, it ends up being just the two of them, and Zach can’t continue resisting the beautiful girl he adores. After a night of heated passion, Nessa isn’t sure where she stands with Zach and is worried that their actions will ruin their friendship.

Zach is out to prove that Nessa means more to him than anyone, but a woman from his past who won’t take no for an answer might ruin everything.

The first person narration that alternates between the protagonists’ voices grant the reader an intimate view into the feelings of Barnard’s (Deep Blue, Blue Crush, and True Blue) characters. If this series continues on as strong as this entry, then readers will have found themselves a winner that shines among the glut of new adult romances.
